Frequently Asked Questions

How Does Coaching Work?

All coaching sessions are currently offered via live video. These virtual coaching sessions allow for flexibility and convenience and are available to clients across multiple states. Sessions are held on a secure, easy-to-use video platform that you can access from your computer, tablet, or phone.

For focus, privacy, and quality of the coaching experience, sessions must be attended from a private space. Sessions cannot be held while driving or in public environments.

Do You Take Insurance?

Coaching services are not eligible for insurance reimbursement, and we do not accept insurance. Coaching is a private-pay service.

Payment is due at the time of session, and detailed receipts can be provided upon request for your personal records.

Do You Offer Consultations Before Committing to Work Together?

Yes! The coaching relationship is one of the most important predictors of a meaningful and successful experience. It’s important that you feel aligned, understood, and confident moving forward.

We offer a free 15-minute consultation call so you can ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and see if coaching with us feels like the right fit. Click here to schedule your consultation.

How Long and How Often are Sessions?

Most coaching sessions are 50–55 minutes and typically occur once a week or every other week, depending on your goals and preferences. Relational sessions have the option to choose 75 or 90 minute appointments as well, as sometimes it is relevant to treatment goals and clients report it enhances the coaching work.

This cadence allows space to reflect, gain clarity, and actively work toward the changes you want to create between sessions.

How Long Does Coaching Usually Last?

It varies. Coaching is goal-oriented and forward-focused, and the length of the coaching relationship depends on what you’re hoping to work toward.

Some clients come to coaching for short-term support around a specific transition or decision and may work with a coach for 6–8 weeks. Others choose a longer-term coaching relationship, often 3–6 months or more, to deepen self-awareness, strengthen patterns, and create sustainable change.

The length of coaching is always a collaborative and ongoing conversation, and goals are revisited regularly to ensure the work continues to feel aligned and supportive.

We are committed to ethical practice and regularly review goals to ensure coaching remains purposeful and client-centered. When clients feel they’ve met their goals, we fully support their transition out of coaching.

What’s the Difference Between Individual Coaching and Relational Coaching? Should We Do Both?

Relational coaching (such as couples or partnership coaching) focuses on communication, shared patterns, and dynamics between people. The goal is to improve how you relate, communicate, and move forward together - not to address specific individual concerns.

Individual coaching provides space to focus on your personal goals, values, decision-making, and growth. It allows you to explore topics that may not feel appropriate or efficient to address in a relational setting.

Because relationship-focused work can naturally bring up personal patterns and individual growth edges, many clients find it helpful to engage in both individual and relational coaching. This allows relational sessions to stay focused on the partnership while individual coaching supports personal clarity and development.

What's the Difference in Coaching vs. Therapy?

Therapy focuses on healing and treating mental health symptoms, diagnosis and concerns with a licensed professional counselor. Coaching prioritizes goals and future-focused change as daily functioning is already well-established and mental health symptoms, diagnosis/concerns are not the focus of the work.

I do not take on counseling/therapy clients at Jordan Coaching Collective. Coaching is a separate service under a separate LLC with a distinct approach, structure, and purpose. If clinical therapeutic concerns fit where clients are currently, they will not be an appropriate fit for coaching. Clients who feel therapy is their desired treatment may either visit my counseling website: Jordan Counseling for those services, or I am happy to suggest another clinical therapist.

*Because I am a Licensed Therapist in Texas, I can only legally treat clients for professional counseling services who reside in Texas.

Coaching clients can be seen virtually from any location.

If you feel you are a better fit for therapy services, feel free to Google Jordan Counseling, PLLC and visit my website.
